“Decent hotel for a weekend vacation”

Let me start off by saying we go to Daytona beach every summer for a long weekend vacation. We normally stay at Days Inn Tropical Seas however they were booked so we booked here instead. We booked an ocean front room with king bed. Upon arrival we were able to check in about 2 hours before check-in time which was really nice however they gave us the wrong room. We got sent to an efficiency room with two beds. Went back to the front desk and explained how we had reserved a king bed only to be told we had not. After the lady behind the desk brought out the paperwork and read the reservation she saw that we were right and quickly apologized, gave us a new room with a king bed still before check-in.

Room was as expected, decent. Nothing great, nothing bad. The bed wasn't that comfortable but you'll be so tired from being at the beach all day it won't matter. Sheets had a couple rips in them but other than that the room was ok.

We chose to not have our room serviced since we were only there two nights, mentioned to the lady cleaning the room that morning that we could use some extra towels. She said she would have to get them, then continued on her business. Didn't think we would see any new towels but we had a bag on our door when we got back from the beach with some new towels.

Overall an ok experience, nothing real bad or real good about it. Just average. Would suggest this hotel for anybody going on a short stay. After getting back home and checking online a little bit I found that the Hilton was only about $10-20 more per night than we paid for this hotel.

Hope this helps somebody!

Just returned from an 8 day family vacation @ Tropical Winds. Very pleased with service, quality, cleanliness, and all other services. Very cooperative staff the entire trip. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a quality get away that doesn't break the bank.

We booked this hotel for a week online after reading reviews and felt even if it wasn't fancy it would be clean and nice for our family. We booked a room for us and our two daughters. We checked in and went to our rooms and ours smelled horrible!! Can't even describe it. Then our daughters came and said that there was black hair in their tub and later found hair on the sheets of their bed. So gross..We went to the front desk and asked for a refund for our week; they were actually very helpful and nice. We stayed that night because they would not give us that first night's money back and then checked out and they did refund us all of our money. They also offered us another room, but yuk..no thanks.
We did eat breakfast in the cafe, super nice guy and good food there.
However, we checked into the plaza resort and our stay was incredible!! Plus, it was only a little more expensive and there is no comparison on the two hotels.

Description: My husband and I have been dying to visit Daytona Beach. We just got married last year, so we didn't have a lot of money to spend on a hotel. We booked this hotel through expedia after reading the reviews. I was impressed at how friendly the staff was. The only problem that we had was that we booked an "ocean view" king room, which was actually a side view. The "oceon front" double rooms have the best (straight) view of the ocean.

Cleanliness: The room was clean and didn't smell. I would suggest some updates in the bathroom, but it was clean. The room had a fridge, microwave, couch and tv. It was nice.

Location: It was in a great location on N. Atlantic Ave and everything was only a short drive. The airport (DAB) and Daytona Speedway were across the bridge, maybe a 10 minute drive. Ponce Lighthouse was a longer drive south on Atlantic, but we enjoyed the scenery. There was also a waterpark and a mall (where Bubba Gump Shrimp was located) about 3 miles from the hotel.

PS. I would definitely suggest eating at Bubba Gump's. GREAT, no EXCELLENT food!

We were told that they accept tax exempt forms and we faxed it 3 weeks prior to going to the hotel. No one and I stress, no one contacted us and informed us that they do not accept the form we had. The whole time we were there, no one told us they do not accept our form. One of the rooms had a whole in the wall, that we were charged for and torn sheets that no one could tell us which room it was in. We were charged after we left for taxes and for the whole in the wall that was already there. The manager would not contact the IRS about the form being legit. The hotel itself was clean, the pools were clean and the beach was nice. No crowds at all. But I would not recommend this hotel to churches if you are planning on using your tax exempt forms. Anyone else who stay in room 506 the whole was already in the wall by the air conditioner, so if they try and charge your for it, you seen it first on this review. They had it covered by plaster, NO drywall and if you lean up agaist it , which is what happened, it will reopen the whole. Watch your account. This is how we knew they charged us for all of this. Once again, watch your account when you leave and go home.
