“What a Hell Hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
My wife, son, and myself stayed at the Xanadu from September 27th to October 3rd. I was on business, and I decided that we could make a vacation out of it. We chose the Xanadu because they stated on their website that they had in-house babysitting on the premises at the time. When we arrived at this dump, the first room we were given a room on which the door did not close entirely, the room had no a/c, and it appeared that someone had used the toilet and not flushed it. We were given a second room that had rust coming from the faucett and the water had a very bad odor. Finally, we were upgraded to a 3rd room which was a little better but still had to have some work done as there were no irons in thre room, no remote controls for the tvs, and our balcony had no lounge chairs. Furthermore, the bed was not made, and there was no hot water in the shower.
The next day we complained and one of the customer service managers(we never saw the general manager) took down our complaints and offered us complimentary breakfast and dinner for 3 days and 3 drinks per day. However, when we tried to use this coupon, we were told the coupon for 3 dinners at one time instead of 3 dinners per family which the csr stated in our conversation(which was backed up by a front desk helper). Fortunately, the kitchen manager was a sympathetic soul and allowed us to enjoy our meals free of charge due to the inconvenience brought on by the other staff members.
There were some moments when we enjoyed the beach area. The morning skies were gorgeous but that had nothing to do with the hotel. Nothing that they had scheduled went off as planned. The place was a general mess because of past huricanes. Construction was going on every day. You had to take the expensive taxis to go everywhere. The best day we had was when we spent the day at a rival resort. They picked us up free of charge. Also, we had a nice time at Port Lucaya. Xanadu was near nothing! You could not walk anywhere, and the prices they had at the gift shop were outrageous. For example, we were invited to a party for time share members. We were the only people to show up.
Bottom line; stay away from this place. I don't know exactly what their problem is(maybe new mgt),but if you're going to go the Bahamas, save your money by spending more for a better place. And if you want to be secluded, choose Paradise Cove. It's better and the people are nicer.
